DailyCourse for iOS — Privacy Policy

The gist (the only part most people will read)
DailyCourse for iOS is built so we never see your data.
- No accounts, no sign-in.
- No analytics, no crash reporters, no advertising IDs, no trackers.
- The only data the app handles is what you type into it (course names, sessions, notes, mood ratings, tags).
- That data lives on your iPhone and, if you have iCloud turned on, in your own private iCloud account via Apple’s CloudKit. It does not pass through any server we operate. We have no server.
- The only permission we ask for is local notifications, used only for the reminders you set up yourself.

1. Who we are
DailyCourse for iOS is operated by Balogun Al-amin, an independent developer based in Lagos, Nigeria.

This policy is governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA).
2. What DailyCourse for iOS does
DailyCourse is a daily learning companion. You create courses (a language you’re learning, a book you’re reading, an instrument you’re practising), schedule recurring focus sessions, run a timer, and log how each session went. The app shows you a calendar, weekly insights, and a streak so you can see your own pattern over time.
The app has no social features, no friend feed, no leaderboards, no community.
3. What data we handle
The only data the app handles is what you type or tap into it. Specifically:

We do not collect your email, phone number, real name (beyond the display name you choose), location, contacts, photos, microphone audio, camera input, or any identifier that could be used to track you across apps or services.
4. Where your data goes
On your device
When you create courses or log sessions, the data is stored locally in SwiftData (Apple’s on-device database framework). It stays on your iPhone or iPad unless you have iCloud turned on.
In your private iCloud (only if you’ve enabled it)
If you are signed into iCloud on your device and have not turned off DailyCourse under Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Apps Using iCloud, your data is synchronized to your own private CloudKit database through Apple’s CloudKit service. This database belongs to your Apple ID. We — the developers of DailyCourse — cannot read, query, modify, or browse the contents of your private CloudKit database. Apple’s iCloud terms apply to that storage.
Notes are flagged for at-rest encryption by CloudKit so that even Apple’s infrastructure stores them in encrypted form.
If you sign out of iCloud or disable DailyCourse under iCloud Apps, sync stops. Existing iCloud data remains in your account until you remove it.
Nowhere else
There is no server we operate. There is no backend. We do not send any data to any third party. We do not embed analytics SDKs, crash reporters, advertising frameworks, or any third-party libraries that transmit data off your device.
5. Permissions the app requests

The app does not request location, contacts, calendar, camera, microphone, photo library, motion, health, Bluetooth, local network, Face ID, or any other permission.
6. iOS-native surfaces
DailyCourse uses Apple’s standard iOS surfaces to display your data outside the main app:
- Widgets (Home Screen, Lock Screen) — read the same on-device data and render it as a widget. They do not transmit data anywhere.
- Live Activity (Dynamic Island and Lock Screen during a focus session) — uses Apple’s ActivityKit; updates stay on-device.
- Deep links (e.g.
dailycourse://course/<id>) — open the app to the relevant screen. The URL scheme is local to your device.
7. What we do not do
To remove any ambiguity:
- We do not track you across apps or websites.
- We do not profile you for advertising.
- We do not sell your data — there is no data to sell.
- We do not share your data with affiliates, partners, or service providers, because there are no affiliates, partners, or service providers in this system besides Apple’s iCloud (which only Apple sees).
- We do not use analytics, crash reporting, A/B testing, attribution, or feature-flag services.
- We do not show you advertisements.
- We do not send marketing emails. We do not have your email.
8. Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA), and as a matter of how DailyCourse for iOS is built, you have direct control:
- Right of access — All your data is visible in the app at all times.
- Right of rectification — Edit any course, session, or note inside the app.
- Right of erasure — Delete the app from your iPhone to wipe local data. To wipe the iCloud copy, go to Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Apps Using iCloud → DailyCourse → Delete Data from iCloud.
- Right to data portability — Your data is stored in Apple’s CloudKit private database, which is portable across your own Apple devices automatically.
- Right to object / restrict processing — Disable iCloud sync for DailyCourse to stop cloud processing; data continues to live on-device only.
- Right to lodge a complaint — You may contact the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) at https://ndpc.gov.ng if you believe your rights have been violated.
We do not need to act on these requests because we don’t hold your data — Apple’s iCloud does, on your behalf. If you have trouble exercising any of the above, email 01log.star@gmail.com and we will help where we can.
9. Children
DailyCourse is suitable for users of all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because we collect no personal information at all from any user, no special handling is required for users under 13 (or the equivalent age in your jurisdiction). Parents and guardians manage iCloud and notification settings via the standard iOS / Apple ID parental controls.
10. Security
Because no data leaves your device except into Apple’s iCloud — and only when you have iCloud enabled — the security of your data is governed by:
- iOS’s built-in app sandboxing and device encryption.
- Apple’s CloudKit security (encryption in transit and at rest).
- Your iCloud password and two-factor authentication on your Apple ID.
We strongly recommend keeping your Apple ID secured with two-factor authentication.
11. International transfers
We do not transfer your data internationally because we do not handle your data at all. Apple’s iCloud may store data in data centers across multiple regions; this is governed by Apple’s privacy policy at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.
12. Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, the new version will be published at the same URL with a revised “Last updated” date. Material changes will also be reflected in the in-app About screen. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
